Symposium of the Collaborative Research Centre 546

We are pleased to announce the International symposium Transition metal oxides – clusters, surfaces and solids – structure, dynamics and reactivity organized by the Collaborative Research Centre 546* of the German Science Foundation at Humboldt-University Berlin.

The Symposium will be held at the Akademie Berlin-Schmöckwitz from March 22 – 24, 2004. It will focus on the understanding on the structure and reactivity of transition metal oxides, specifically vanadium oxide catalysts supported on other oxides.

The symposium would like to bring together chemists working with real catalysts, spectroscopists characterizing them, surface scientists looking at thin films and deposited clusters, and people looking at naked clusters in the gas phase. Theory for gas phase species and extended solids will be also included.

The program includes invited talks by leading scientists of the field and contributed posters. Among those who have already agreed to speak at the symposium are: A. T. Bell (UC Berkeley), S. A. Chambers (PNL), K. Domen (Tokyo Institute of Technology), W. A. Goddard (Cal Tech), J. Jellinek (Argonne), M. Kappes (Karlsruhe), G. Pacchioni (Milano), J. H. Parks (Harvard), J. M. Vohs (U Penn), L.-S. Wang (Washington State Univ)
