International Symposium of the CRC 1109

Metal Oxide – Water Systems

(Erkner, February 19-22, 2017)

In 2017 the CRC 1109 "Understanding of Metal Oxide/Water Systems at the Molecular Scale: Structural Evolution, Interfaces, and Dissolution" will reach the end of a first funding period of four years. On this occasion, we will report results and discuss them with colleagues from all-over the world.

Among others the following aspects will be high-lighted:

  • Formation and dissolution of metal oxides
  • Behaviour of metal oxides at the interface with water
  • Molecules, gas phase clusters and thin films as oxide models
  • Design of oxide materials for applications
  • Speciation, nucleation and growth

The program starts on Sunday evening with a Welcome Dinner and a first Poster session. During the three conference days there will be 10 invited talks by leading scientists of the field, and 12 lectures by members of the CRC 1109 and its associates. The evenings will provide Poster sessions to stimulate the discussion. The Symposium will close on Wednesday with a General discussion and a Farewell lunch.
