strong correlation phenomena

 

 

Another part of the group investigates ultrafast phenomena that are caused by strong correlations in condensed matter systems. Examples are photoinduced insulator-to-metal transitions or quasiparticle dynamics in excitonic insulators.

 

Examples are the ultrafast formation and decay of a metal at ZnO surfaces, the photoinduced enhancement of the condensate density in an excitonic insulator, and our work on the photoinduced phase transition in VO2 (see references below).
