Academic Career

 

1985-1991 Studies of Chemistry (Diploma) at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz.
1992-1995 Ph.D. Work and graduation at the University of Mainz, Germany, under supervision of Prof. Dr. H. Kunz. "A novel allylic anchor-group for solid phase synthesis of peptides and glycopeptides". (Assessment: with highest honor)
1996–1997 Postdoctoral position at the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, USA, with Prof. C.-H. Wong. "Chemoenzymatic solid phase synthesis and enzyme-catalysed fragment condensation".
1997–2000 Work towards the Habilititation at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Karlsruhe.
2000-2003 Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Physiology and Institute of Organic Chemistry, Dortmund. Group leader in the Department of Chemical Biology (Director: Prof. H. Waldmann).
2002 Habilitation in Organic Chemistry at the University of Dortmund.
Since 2003 Appointment as Full Professor of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry at the Humboldt-University of Berlin.
