Radiation Protection Officer

The main tasks are radiation protection monitoring of all employess of the Institute of Chemistry working in external facilities for synchrothron and neutron radiation.

The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) assigns a personal identification number (SSR) for each person to be registered. All employees of the Institute of Chemistry working in external facilities have to apply first for a SSR number. The SSR Number (certificate) can only be issued by authorized persons (e.g. Radiation Safety Officer).

If you are planning to work on external facilities, beside the SSR Number you need a Radiation Passport which has to be registered with the State Office for Health and Technical Safety (LAGetSi).

It is advised to apply for the Radiation Passport at least 2 months prior to your external facility experiment appointment, later applications might result in loosing the beam time apointment.
