PhD Positions
Research Fellow (m/f/d) with 2/3-time-employment – fix term for expected 4 years - E 13 TV-L HU pay grade
Activities and responsibilities: We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate interested in bioorganic chemistry and interdisciplinary research at the chemistry/biology interface. The project involves the development methods for the chemical and chemoenzymatic synthesis of glycoprotein structures and the development of fragment ligation techniques for the synthesis of very long glycoproteins with a repeat structure. Bioassays will be performed to evaluate the prepared glycoproteins. The position includes tasks for the scientific qualification (doctorate).
Requirements: Master degree in the field of (bio)organic chemistry (preferably with very good grades); experience in bioorganic synthesis, preferably in peptide chemistry and/or carbohydrate chemistry. The ideal candidate is familiar with interdisciplinary research approaches and has very good command in spoken and written English.
Application: Please send your application (including motivation, CV, master and undergraduate transcripts, abstract of the master thesis) quoting the reference number AN/013/22 to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Institute of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Oliver Seitz, Brook-Taylor-Str. 2, 12629 Berlin, Germany or preferably in electronic form as one PDF file to application.seitzlab@chemie.hu-berlin.de.

Research Fellow (m/f/d) with 2/3-time-employment for three years - E 13 TV-L HU pay grade
Activities and responsibilities: We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate interested in bioorganic chemistry and interdisciplinary research at the chemistry/biology interface. The project involves the development of methods for the chemical synthesis of highly phosphorylated protein structures from RNA polymerase II. Solid phase peptide synthesis and fragment ligation will be key methods. The candidate will develop bioassays for structure-affinity studies with readers and writers of the CTD code. The position includes tasks for the scientific qualification (doctorate).
Requirements: Master degree in the field of (bio)organic chemistry (preferably with very good grades); focus-specific training: theoretical and practical experience in peptide chemistry, experience in bioassays. The ideal candidate is familiar with interdisciplinary research approaches and has very good command in spoken and written English
Application: Please send your applications (including motivation letter, cv und relevant certificates) within 4 weeks, and quoting reference number DR/007/22, to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Oliver Seitz (located: Brook-Taylor- Str. 2, Berlin-Adlershof), Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin or preferably in electronic form as one PDF file to: seitzlab@chemie.hu-berlin.de
