The research in the group focusses on the following areas. For details see Research on this webpage.

  • Ab initio methods for investigating the structure, dynamics and reactivity of large chemical systems
  • Applications to solid materials and molecules
  • Heterogeneous catalysis (zeolites, transition metal oxides)
  • Adsorption of small molecules in MOFs (carbon capture, water harvesting)
  • Structure and reactivity of gas phase oxide clusters

The group participates in:

  • NSF/DFG Confine Project: Diffusion of Water Confined in Nanopores
  • International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) "Functional Interfaces in Physics and Chemistry"

Previous participations:

  • CRC 1109 - Collaborative Research Centre "Understanding of Metal Oxide/Water Systems at the Molecular Scale: Structural Evolution, Interfaces, and Dissolution"
  • UniCat - Cluster of Excellence (DFG) "Unifying Concepts in Catalysis"
  • SPP 1570 - Porous Media with Defined Porous Structure in Chemical Engineering - Modelling, Applications, Synthesis
