Travel Information

Note: Due to the fact that the public transport system in Berlin will change drastically in 2006, this information is preliminary and will be updated.

Destination station: Erkner

The train station Erkner can be reached by the Berliner S-Bahn S3 (suburban train) or the local train RE1.

From Erkner, you can use a taxi (ca. 5 euro) or walk about 10 to 15 minutes to the BZE (map).

Arrival

  • via airplane

  • It is not recommended to use a taxi from any airport to the BZE (estimated costs: TXL - 55€, THF - 42€, SXF - 35€). For each of the following possibilities you need a Berlin Ticket ABC(2.60€).
    If you have your arrival time, feel free to ask for help.

    • Airport Tegel (TXL)

      Use the Bus 109 or X9 (direction Zoologischer Garten) to Zoologischer Garten or the Bus TXL (Mollstraße / Prenzlauer Allee) to Alexanderplatz.
      There switch to the RE1(Frankfurt(Oder) or Eisenhüttenstadt) to Erkner.

      From Zoologischer Garten or Alexanderplatz you also can use the S5 (Strausberg Nord), S7 (Ahrensfelde), S9 (Berlin Schönefeld) or S75 (Wartenberg) to Ostbahnhof and switch there to the S3 (Erkner) to Erkner.

    • Airport Schönefeld (SXF)

      Several options

    • Airport Tempelhof (THF)

      Use the U6 (Alt-Tegel) to Friedrichstraße.

      There switch to the RE1(Frankfurt(Oder) or Eisenhüttenstadt) to Erkner.

      From Friedrichstraße you also can use the S5 (Strausberg Nord), S7 (Ahrensfelde), S9(Berlin Schönefeld) or S75 (Wartenberg) to Ostbahnhof and switch there to the S3 (Erkner) to Erkner.

  • via train

  • Most visitors will arrive via Berlin, in this case you will switch in Berlin Ostbahnhof or Berlin Hauptbahnhof to the RE1 (Frankfurt(Oder) or Eisenhüttenstadt) to Erkner.

    Please contact the online timetable from the DB for further information.

    Note: normally, it is cheaper to buy a train ticket (DB) to Erkner than a ticket to Berlin and a Berlin Ticket (Zones ABC), but with the DB-ticket you are not allowed to use the S-Bahn S3.

  • Use any autobahn to Berlin. Every autobahn leads to the A10 (Berliner Ring).

    • A11 and A24

      Use the northern ring (A10, direction Dresden) to Berlin Köpenick (exit no. 23).

      Follow the Fangschleusenstraße, Fürstenwalderstraße, Friedrichstraße to Seestraße. (See map for details.)

    • A2, A9, A12 and A13

      Use the southern ring (A10, direction Prenzlau / Frankfurt/Oder) to Berlin Köpenick (exit no. 23).

Hints for Berlin visits

For Berlin visits you can use the S3 (every 10 min) or the RE1 (every 30 min), you need a Berlin ABC ticket (single trip: 2.60€). With this ticket you are allowed to travel between two stations on the shortest possible way with any available transport medium (except long distance trains) and without "sightseeing stops". So for Berlin sightseeing trips or shopping tours, you should take a day ticket (6.00€, groups up to 5 persons: 15.00€). Erkner — Berlin-Friedrichsstraße: 30 min (RE) or 39 min (S-Bahn).

There is no price reduction for students.
